The Wines!!

Marques de Gelida Cava Brut Reserve $19.99
Marques de Gelida is owned by six family growers that have roots in the Penedes area since the 1600's.  Located in the northeast zone of Penedes, locally know as Penedes Alta, the vineyards are among the highest in the D.O.  Mostly planted to Xarel-Lo Parellada and Macabeo there are additional plantings of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with the oldest plots being 84 years old; the entire estate is dry farmed. The climate here is mostly Mediterranean, but with sub climates in the mountains that are more continental. The productions for Marques de Gelida comes from the free run juice and first soft pressing of the grapes, it's fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperatures, then Methode Champanoise is employed. The finished product is aged 2.5 years in bottle before release. These sparkling wines are much greater values than their prices suggest, they're vintage, Brut Reserve cavas with tremendously high quality viticulture and winemaking going into them.
By Penedes standards their production is extremely small (25,000 cases)

Mayu, Pedro Jiminez, Valle de Elqui, Chile $16.99
“In the northern edge of Chile lies the Elqui Valley, a place of bright days and cold nights. It’s perfect for growing grapes and gazing at what the Incas called Mayu — the river of stars in the Milky Way. For this reason, you will see eight observatories here, all studying the heavens. A stylish white wine, with appealing aromas of lemon and lime, balanced by fresh acidity. Long finish and mineral character makes this an excellent match for shellfish and seafood.

Paul Hobbs "Crossbarn" Chardonnay $34.99
Our chardonnay showcases the fresh and lively essence of the Sonoma Coast appellation, offering a brilliant, pale yellow color and enticing aromas of lemon curd, warm brioche and fragrant white florals. Flavors of custard and golden delicious apple are accented by a hint of baking spice, mineral and sea salt.
The lengthy finish is crisp and clean, uniting vibrant fruit with bracing acidity.

Los Noques Cabernet Franc $19.99
The wine presents a brilliant red color similar to a ruby, typical for a young, concentrated wine. It presents a range of aromas such as black pepper, berries, mint, and aromas from the oak like vanilla and coffee. The bouquet is elegant and intense, fresh and juicy fruit with slight wood taste very well integrated. Particularly good to drink with a white meat or strong fish.

Bedrock Old Vine Zinfandel 2015
 $29.99

"#12 TOP 100"
*Smart Buys* "Rich and supple, this is an explosion of pure, decadent fruit. Floral huckleberry and Chinese five-spice powder aromas open to layered blackberry, dark chocolate and licorice flavors that linger." Drink now through 2026. (TF)  click on pic for more info>>>
