The Wines!!

 Statti, Lamezia Bianco (2015)

The ancient name of Calabria, "Enotria Tellus" ("Land of Wine"), offers a straightforward introduction to this fascinating land, which has always been dedicated to producing wines. For over two thousand years the agricultural history of Calabria has been entwined with the wine one and since 1700 the family of Baron Statti has been living in the same five hundred hectares. The great variety of the local vines represents a great heritage to be found and valued again. Statti family has been played an important role for Calabrian economy and since now Alberto and Antonio Statti have been choosing to value the deep bond with the history and the tradition of their own land with a look always towards the future and the innovation.

Grapes: Greco Bianco 50%, Mantonico 50%
Vinification: Soft pressing of the grapes, with fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature (16-18 °C).
Ageing: In stainless steel tanks.
Tasting:Fresh witness of the capacity of the plane of Lamezia to develop a deep and young tradition.

 Cape Heights, Sauvignon Blanc (2017)

The vineyards of the Cape winelands, abundant with wild flora and fauna, boast fertile soils and an ideal climate to allow nature to flourish. The Cape Heights range covers the majority of key international varieties, all sourced and created within the Western Cape.
This Sauvignon Blanc from the Western Cape displays fresh, ripe yellow fruit flavours with a hint of waxy lime and plum stone, as well as some leafy herbal notes. A touch of Colombard really lifts this wine and makes it zippy, racy and very quaffable.

Mas de Daumas Gassac, Vin de Pays de l'Hérault Moulin de Gassac Guilhem Rosé (2017)

Mas de Daumas Gassac was founded in 1970 by Véronique and Aimé Guibert, and at the time they didn’t necessarily intend on planting vines and making wine. They had bought the property simply because they were enchanted by the beautiful Gassac Valley in the Hérault départment and felt that it had potential. They just weren’t sure what that potential was. But when their friend, Bordeaux University geologist Henri Enjalbert, visited the estate he had no doubt: the cool microclimate and perfectly drained gravelly terroir could produce world-class wines, specifically Cabernet Sauvignon. And so it was that uncloned Cabernet cuttings were brought from châteaux in the Médoc and planted on Daumas Gassac’s north-facing slopes. A few years later, the first vintage was produced, with the help of the Guibert’s consulting winemaker, Émile Peynaud.

The land here was manually farmed for hundreds of years before the family settled in the valley, and the soil has never suffered from the destructive use of chemical fertilizers. From the founding of the estate to this day, the Guiberts have drawn on that ancient tradition, farming organically, harvesting by hand, and sparing no effort to respect nature and allow the free expression of the distinctive Gassac terroir. It’s only through such hard work, dedication, and commitment to principles that Mas de Daumas Gassac could be described by Gault & Millau as “a Languedoc Château Lafite.”

Cape Heights, Cabernet Sauvignon (2016)

The vineyards of the Cape winelands, abundant with wild flora and fauna, boast fertile soils and an ideal climate to allow nature to flourish. The Cape Heights range covers the majority of key international varieties, all sourced and created within the Western Cape.
This has lovely varietal expression - taut and leafy but also brambly, bright and succulent with that classically varietal crushed rock thing on the finish. Deliciously fresh and vibrant seaside Cab.

 Xiloca, Calatayud Garnacha (2016)

Intense blackberry color and aroma are captivating. Freshness and integrated tannins invite a second sip. The intensity continues in a mouth filling palate and a lingering fruit/mineral finish. In 2015, the work begun by Vinae Mureri along the upper stretches of the Jiloca River has been inherited through acquisition by Bodegas Sommos Garnacha. The tastefully designed, isolated bodega in Murero is retained, along with 250 acres of indigenous Garnacha vines between 40 and 100 years old. Updated technology and attention to detail has produced immediate and spectacular results.
