Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
2013

A rich, creamy Chardonnay. Perfect for Crab cakes or Lobster Thermidor!
Chardenet hasn't been on our radar long but the wines have impressed us greatly with their amazing vineyard sources, intense flavors and traditional Chardonnay richness. When our supplier came to us and offered us these amazing prices we jumped at the opportunity and grabbed all we that was left of this vintage!
This wine compares very favorably with Chalk Hill and Kistler who source much of their fruit from the same vineyard.

93 Points  The Wine Enthusiast
This is a sublime, succulent and entirely rewarding white from the great vineyard site that is Durell. The vines used by this producer date back to 1994, 1995 and 2003. Richly defined, the wine is lengthy and complex in honeycomb, ginger and a powerful mix of acidity and texture, finishing in a bite of orange. -

Butter, smoke, tropical fruit, apricot jam and spices meld together in the 2013 Chardonnay Durrell Vineyard. The creamy, open-knit finish only adds to the wine's considerable appeal in this attractive, classic, California barrel-fermented Chardonnay. A very pretty wine from the Jackson Family Estates Chardenet label. (AG)   (1/2016)

The Winemaker's Thoughts .........

The famed Durell Vineyard is without question, one of the most lauded Chardonnay crus in California and is situated in the foothills of Sonoma Mountain, a few miles northwest of Coteau Blanc. The vineyard overlaps three contiguous regions: Carneros, Sonoma Coast and Sonoma Valley. The terroir consists of well-drained, cobbled soils, sloping and relatively steep, with southeast and southwest orientations that capture the daytime sun. The wine displays the vineyard soils, showing a tangy streak of minerality.

A BIT ABOUT THE VINEYARD..........

Located in the southwestern hills of Sonoma Valley, the Durell Vineyard stretches across three separate and overlapping appellations: Sonoma Coast, Sonoma Valley and a small corner of Carneros.

This unique area enjoys the best characteristics of each appellation—the cooling effect of San Pablo Bay to the South, the afternoon winds generated from the Pacific to the West, and the warmth of the Sonoma Valley to the North. The vineyard’s sloping hills, rocky clay loam soils and low-vigor vines help keep yields low—three tons per acre on average—while its clonal diversity ensures great complexity.
