The Wine Enthusiast
90 pts Jeb Dunnuck
Full, lush tropical fruit dominates this wine’s aromas and flavors. Complex and heady on the palate, it is a premier example of Central Coast Chardonnay.
Mount Eden Vineyards is a small historic wine estate perched at 2000 feet overlooking Silicon Valley in the Santa Cruz Mountain Appellation, about 50 miles south of San Francisco. Founded in 1945, it is recognized as one of the original “boutique” California winery properties, focusing on small lots of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Jean-Pierre Wolff farms 55 acres of Chardonnay vines in the bucolic Edna Valley, outside the town of San Luis Obispo. Originally planted in 1976 by Edna Valley wine pioneer Andy Macgregor (Wolff purchased the property from Macgregor in 1999), the vineyard is the oldest in the Edna Valley. Mount Eden has made Chardonnay from this vineyard since 1985. These mature vines typically yield two to four tons per acre.
The winemaking process is essentially the same as with Mount Eden’s Estate Chardonnay. After harvest, the fruit is trucked to our winery in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It is pressed without crushing and entirely barrel-fermented in a mix of new, two and three-year-old French Burgundy barrels. Undergoing full malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged eight months in barrel until bottling.

2016 Schloss Vollrads QBA Riesling from Rheingau, Germany $19.99
WE 90 pts
This Riesling has an exotic bouquet of mango, peach and ripe apple and has noticeable, natural residual sugar.

This wine is an ideal accompaniment to Asian spices such as curry, ginger, or lemon grass. It has perfect balance of acidity and natural sweetness and has the right characteristics to stand up to such exciting dishes.

Schloss Vollrads can look back on centuries of wine-making tradition. According to an ancient deed, the Knights of Greiffenclau sold their wines to the convent of St. Victor in Mainz as long ago as 1211. Today, Schloss Vollrads combines 800 years of its tradition with the latest in wine-making engineering, environmental awareness in cultivation, and meticulous care of the wines. Some 126 acres of vineyards are solely devoted to the Riesling grape.

2015  Robledo Pinot Noir, Los Carneros, Sonoma $37.99
Soft but expressive lavender nose. Smooth mouthfeel and medium body. Palate Parades cherries, violets and spice, with peppery highlights. nicely structured tannins draw out a long elegant finish.
Reynaldo migrated from Michoacán Mexico at the young age of 16 in 1968 in pursuit of a better life for himself and his then girlfriend, Maria Ramirez.  With his incredible fortitude and ambition, he took every opportunity to learn the craft of viticulture and acquire business acumen.  He eventually became one of the most sought after vineyard consultants in Sonoma County. Reynaldo eventually married Maria and together they had nine children, all of whom grew up working in the vineyards.  He established two companies that are now operated by six family members.  To this day, Reynaldo enjoys working in the vineyards alongside his children and grandchildren who have inherited the same passion for the industry he fell in love with years ago.

2015 Stags Leap Investor, Napa $57.99

RP 92 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2015 Proprietary Red The Investor is blended of 42% Merlot, 30% Petite Sirah, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Malbec aged 18 months in about 30% new oak. Very deep garnet-purple in color, it reveals freshly crushed black and red currants, black cherries and unsmoked cigars with hints of violets, chocolate box and cedar. Full-bodied and packed with vibrant black fruit layers, it has a firm, very fine-grained frame and finishes long and spicy. 10,000 cases produced
The Investor is a red wine that beautifully blends together the unique flavors and expressions of Merlot, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, resulting in a powerful, yet approachable assemblage with significant fruit presence. The Merlot contributes fresh red berry aromatics and a soft, velvety texture to balance the power of Petite Sirah, which adds concentration, tannins, spice and blueberry flavors. The Cabernet Sauvignon further increases the final blend’s complexity and depth and the Malbec’s incredibly vibrant floral aromatics heighten the blend’s freshness.

2016 Atlas Peak Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa $35.99
Deep red in color the Atlas Peak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon expresses notes of red cherry, currants and licorice on the nose. Robust and full-bodied with supple tannins and dense blackberry fruit. Flavors of mocha, molasses, blueberry, and pepper dominate with back notes of plum and graphite on the finish.

Pair with salt-crusted beef tenderloin, classic rib-eye roast, herbed potatoes, simple sautéed mushrooms with chives, hard cheeses.

The grapes growing at high elevation, and above the natural fog line, experience much lower daytime temperatures than those on the valley floor, allowing the grapes to stay cool while gaining maximum sun exposure. As a result, growers up on the mountain can afford to harvest later and pick for flavor with less worry about over ripening and excessive alcohol. No grape develops as well in mountain conditions as Cabernet Sauvignon.

Atlas Peak crafts Napa Valley mountain appellation Cabernet Sauvignon from such prestigious areas as Howell Mountain, Spring Mountain District and Mount Veeder, in addition to Atlas Peak. Atlas Peak’s Cabernet Sauvignon wines are driven by an appreciation of mountain-grown fruit and winemaking techniques that capture the distinct flavors derived from the mountain appellations in which they are grown.

The Beers!!

Bronx Built For This New England IPA 6 pack $13.99
One thing the Bronx isn’t short on is toughness. Its strong work ethic and no-nonsense attitude is why we chose to brew our beer here. And in the spirit of the character of the Bronx, we created this tough as nails, Northeast IPA. Full bodied, hazy with tastes of orange, mango, and pineapple, it’s a brew made big & bold like the borough that inspired it.

Founders Double Trouble IPA 4 pack $11.99
"Incredibly fragrant and aromatic; huge floral notes, fruit, caramel, grass. This smells amazing. Flavor is great also; very bitter, caramel, grass, citrus, pine, pineapple, other light-colored fruits. Chewy mouth feel; not syrupy though. Medium carbonation, which lends itself, again, to some amazing aromas. Really great."
