Alphonse Mellot Sancerre Blanc "La Moussiere" 2012
 Loire Valley, 100% Sauvignon Blanc

Description: Tasting notes: Lively like the look in your eyes, sweet like a kiss. Very fine gold colour with a green sheen. Its nose has a flowery fruity bouquet. Being pure and honest it is seducer from the outset. Flowers flit around, trees bend down to give their most beautiful fruits to us and the air we breathe is so sweet in this garden full of sweetness that it is intoxicating. Lively, supple and welcoming taste. Predominantly honest in a welcoming balance, it reflects a pretty grape, a fine harvest in the singing and laughter of the men and women pickers. It tells us of work well done in the divine order and Nature's kindness. It is fair, and all one expected and to cap it all there is happiness there.

i-winereview.com 91+ Alphonse Mellot's 2011 Sancerre " La Moussiere" offers attractive aromas of white flowers, citrus and minerals. Aged in 40% new French oak (no malo), it is a precisely focused and elegant wine with ripe mouth filling citrus flavors and a long finish.

Alphonse Mellot Sancerre Rouge "La Moussiere"2009
 Loire Valley  100% Pinot Noir

Description: Very fine deep crimson color. Hints of small red and black fruit like raspberries, currants, mulberries and morello cherries, with spicy traces of pink peppercorns, vanilla and cinnamon. It is mellow, well rounded and well structured. A woody background goes with spicy traces and aromas of fruit. A wine long in the mouth, high in alcohol and pleasant, a real winner.

Wine & Spirits Magazine 90 FOR THE 2009 VINTAGE: "The ripe, fragrant flavors of red cherry and plum skins show plenty of depth, balancing the plush oak. It's floral and full in aroma on the finish, persisting with sleekly harmonious length."

Alphonse Mellot "Les Penitents" Chardonnay 2010
 Loire Valley  100% Chardonnay

Description: The vineyards, planted with chardonnay and pinot noir on a limestone soil, is a conversion to organic and biodynamic in the greatest respect for the soil and plant. The White Penitents comes from young vines of chardonnay planted on a calcareous clay soil and exposed south / southwest. The wine is vinified as a sauvignon by Alphonse Mellot Jr., then aged on lees for a period of 6 to 8 months. Tasting Note: Like this superb chardonnay and specific mineral, the dress with a bold yellow with golden highlights, expressive nose, floral and fruity scents of citrus (lemon, grapefruit) and tropical fruits, the round mouth fine and balanced, with hints of lemon.

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar 89 "Bright yellow. Pungent aromas of peach skin, pear nectar and honeysuckle, plus a suave leesy character. Juicy, nicely concentrated orchard fruit flavors are braced by dusty minerality and pick up smoke and anise qualities in the mid-palate. Acts like a Burgundy, and finishes very good punch and lingering spiciness."
The Wine Advocate 88 FOR 2010 VINTAGE: "From vines planted in 1990, and vinified in a mixture of wooden fermentors, cement tank, and smaller barrels, the Mellot 2010 Coteaux Charitois Chardonnay Les Penitents preserves juicy, apple-y primary fruit to accompany its lees-enriched creaminess. Resin and spice from barrel are well-integrated into this plush performance, and hints of chalk and salt enhance the interest and next-sip inducement of a protracted finish. (As the components for the corresponding 2011 had either not yet undergone or were in malo-lactic conversion at the time of my April visit, I could not attempt to assess that vintage at the present time.)"
