Every weekend we have free tastings that give you a chance to explore the wide word of wines! Come in this weekend and visit with us! Each Friday we try to start your weekend off with a sampling of fine wines and beers that will allow you to relax into your "days off" with a positive note. Always a gathering of friends and neighbors and good conversation.
A long time ago, way back in 1990, there was a little winery in the town of Proctorsville, Vermont. Back then, we made our living producing a variety of apple wines, something not many wineries do. We also made a little cider called “Vermont Old-Fashioned Hard Cider” – not the most catchy name, yet pretty darn appropriate.
We set out to create a truly American hard cider – a feat that hadn’t really been accomplished in the last 200+ years. (Sorry, but we just can’t count the stuff your grandpa made in “The Woodshed.”) The crafting process started with the Vermont Old-Fashioned Hard Cider we already had on hand. Countless changes were made, not the least of which was taking the alcohol content down from 12% to 5%. After three months of blood, sweat and tears, a new cider was born. (Don’t worry, we kept all the blood sweat and tears out of the cider.)
The Wines from Nice Legs for Easter!
Gimonet-Gonet Champagne Brut NV $44.99
Cuvée Brut Tradition is the most fruity of all our champagnes because it is the only one made with a significant proportion of black grapes: in fact 50% of the blend is Pinot Noir, the remaining 50% being Chardonnay. Chardonnay is the least-planted grape variety in Champagne so the 50% in Cuvée Brut Tradition is above average and brings this champagne a distinctive finesse.
Albastrele Sauvignon Blanc, Moldova $13.99
Unique terroir influenced by the breezes from the Black Sea. This golden wine has ripe citrus fruit flavors with hints of freshly cut grass and peapod. Sophisticated structure, rounded with great length and depth. Serve chilled (45°-50° F) with all manner of dishes including grilled fish, seafood and creamy risottos. Silver Medalist at the Moscow Wine & Spirit Competition
Chateau Du Casse, Graves $19.99
The Graville-Lacoste property produces a Graves Blanc, known primarily for its stony soil composition and fresh minerality. This wine and the Bordeaux Blanc of Château Ducasse are very different from others from their appellations: Hervé blends a high proportion of Sémillon (60%) and a splash of Muscadelle (5%) with Sauvignon Blanc (35%), creating a rich, full, aromatic mid-palate to complement the clean finish. These are the perfect go-to whites that pair well with anything from fish to poultry, picnic fare to Indian curries.
Jam Cellars "Butter" Chardonnay $18.99
Delivering on its name, this wine has an ethereal creaminess on the palate, woven with smooth vanillin scented oak. Tropical flavors of pineapple and honeydew intertwine delicately on the mid pallet and linger on to the finish. 5 Stars Sally Christie
Raptor Ridge Pinot Noir, Willamette $26.99
This beautiful expression of our Estate vineyard Pinot noir is a stunner on all fronts! In the glass, this wine is vibrant garnet with fantastic clarity. The nose greets you with red cranberry, red cherry, and crushed raspberry, with soft meaty notes of seasoned leather and ripe savory notes. On the palate, one is greeted by generous red fruits like cherry pie and raspberry leaf, wrapped up in a firm structure of tannin and crisp acidity. This wine will age well in your cellar, or enjoy now with rich buttery northwest salmon.
