The Wines!

Egret Wine Co.!

Sauvignon Blanc

The grapes for the Egret Sauvignon Blanc were selected from some of our favorite vineyards in regions ideal for growing expressive Sauvignon Blanc. Clear to soft pale in color, intensely fragrant aromas of gooseberry, melon, and grapefruit strike the nose. The flavors are rich and mouthwatering having a smooth yet crisp texture with hints of key lime, grass, grapefruit, and pineapple. Crisp, clean, and fresh fruity flavors envelop the palate into its remarkably bright finish. Enjoy with sharp cheeses, fruit salads, or light fish dishes.

Chardonnay

This Egret Chardonnay is made from grapes grown in the Los Carneros & Lodi appellations of California. Most of this wine was tank fermented and aged 10 months in stainless steel; about 15% is barrel aged in French oak. The lees were stirred regularly to enhance flavor and richness. The wine shows flavors of pineapple, apricot, peach & citrus. There is a deep Chardonnay varietal character that refreshes the palate and leads from a full-feeling, tropical fruit cocktail to a bright zesty finish. Enjoy this wine with creamy cheeses and fruit as well as light pasta, spicy seafood & poultry or just enjoy as a refreshing beverage.

Pinot Noir

This wine was aged for 10 months in Frenck oak barrels. The Pinot Noir grapes for this fine Burgundian-style wine were harvested from several exceptional vineyards in Northern California.

Merlot

This wine has a rich burgundy color with ruby edges showing long legs in the glass. Bold, complex aromas of wild red raspberry, kirsch, root beer, anise, cloves & vanilla blend with crushed white pepper corns. Then the wine delivers these flavors with delicious, full bodied mouth feel that completely covers the palate. This wine was reserved for an extra year of aging by the winemaker for a total of 34months in new French oak barrels. Soft, well integrated tannins lead to a very long, alluring Zinny finish of wild berries & spice. This is one of the winemakers favorite wines that is bound to be treat for any special occasion.

Zinfandel

The Zinfandel grapes for this wine were carefully selected from two small vineyards located in Shenandoah Valley in the Sierra Foothills of Amador County. The grapes were hand picked at the peak of maturity before dawn and delivered to the winery for careful de-stemming and hand sorting. The berries were soaked for 10 days and fermented before being put in French oak barrels at our winery in Kenwood to age in caves sunk deep in the foothills located on the west side of Sonoma Valley.
