We strive to let the natural flavors of the grapes shine through in every glass you drink.

That’s why:

We were one of the first wineries in New Zealand to launch our wines in screw caps because they keep wine fresher than corks. Now it is an industry norm.

At a time when the world was flooded with oak aged chardonnays, we decided the world needed a clean, top quality, fruit driven chardonnay devoid of heavy oak, so we started making one.

We only offer our Small Parcels in stellar vintages.

“With that in mind, our aim is to craft wines that are vibrant, fruit driven and generous.”

Sauvignon Blanc
Marlborough 2012
Loveblock was forged from a love affair with a view and a challenge.
Perched right on top of the hills overlooking Marlborough's Awatere Valley,
our Loveblock is far removed from the agricultural bustle in the valley below.
From here you can almost see the end of the planet, the peace lifts you above
your troubles. We are charged with creating the best wine we can to express
this extraordinary place with its unique aspect. We follow our deeply held
belief of ethical farming which allows the wine to show its true and naked
terroir.
Loveblock is our heart and soul.
Vineyard notes:
The grapes come from our Loveblock farm, an organically certified farm in
the Lower Awatere sub region of Marlborough. The soil type is
predominantly aged alluvial loams containing some clay over stone.
Depending on vigour, the vines were cane pruned to two, three or four
canes and trained in a normal vertical shoot position. Flowering was very
slow due to the cool Spring. The late Summer weather produced small
bunches and berry size, resulting in intense varietal flavours for this
vintage. The grapes were harvested very late (3 and 4 May 2012) with a
resulting yeild of three tonnes per acre.
Vinification:
The grapes were machine harvested on a cool Marlborough morning and
were immediately transferred to the winery where they were destemmed
and crushed before being transferred to the tank press. After four hours
settling, the juice was inoculated with organic yeast. No preservative was
added before fermentation and organic winemaking guidelines were strictly
adhered to.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Water white with a hint of green and gold.
Aroma: Lifted aromatics with peach, fig and a hint of tomato leaf.
Palate: Explosive palate with white peach, underscored with subtle
herbaceous notes and linear acidity.

Pinot Gris
Marlborough 2011
Loveblock was forged from a love affair with a view and a challenge.
Perched right on top of the hills overlooking Marlborough's Awatere Valley,
our Loveblock is far removed from the agricultural bustle in the valley
below. From here you can almost see the end of the planet, the peace lifts
you above your troubles. We are charged with creating the best wine we can

deeply held belief of ethical farming which allows the wine to show its true
and naked terroir.
Vineyard notes:
The grapes come from our Loveblock farm in the Lower Awatere sub region
of Marlborough. The soil type is predominantly aged alluvial loams
containing some clay over stone. Depending on vigour, the vines were
cane pruned to either one or two canes, and trained to vertical shoot
position. The warm Spring brought ideal early growing conditions and a tip
top flowering season. Pinot Gris has a propensity to over crop, so before
veraison the vines were extensiely thinned. At veraison the bunches were
again colour thinned to ensure even ripening. The grapes were harvested
on 19 and 26 April 2011 and due to the young nature of the vines, yields
were less than two tonnes per acre.
Vinification:
Where possible the grapes were machine harvested with around a
quarter of them being hand-picked. The grapes were transferred to the
winery where they were destemmed and crushed before being lightly
pressed. The hand harvested portion was whole bunch pressed. The
juice was cold settled for 36 hours, racked, warmed and inoculated with
organic yeast. The wine was then cool fermented until deemed in balance
when the fermentation was stopped. The wine was racked, stablised and
filtered for bottling in April 2012.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Pale golden with hints of green.
Aroma: A bursting potpourri of yellow wildflowers underscored with ripe
pear, lychee and Turkish Delight notes.
Palate: The wine explodes into your mouth with layers of ripe pear,
lychee, musk melon and almond flavor. Finishing dry the wine has great
fruitiness, minerality and length with a touch of lime on the back palate

Pinot Noir
Central Otago 2011
Loveblock was forged from a love affair with a view and a challenge.
Nestled amongst the snow capped mountains of Central Otago is our small
Pinot Noir Vineyard. This region produces intensely layered and complex
wines, making it ideal for growing Pinot Noir. We are charged with creating
the best wine we can to express this extraordinary place. We follow our
deeply held belief of ethical farming which allows the wine to show its
true and naked terroir.
Loveblock is our heart and soul.
Vineyard notes:
These Pinot Noir grapes come from our estate in Bendigo, Central Otago,
called Someone’s Darling. The soil type is free draining sandy loam over
schist alluvium gravels, known as Molineux soils. The 2011 vintage was
challenging with higher than normal rainfall during February and March
putting vineyards in the area under pressure from botrytis. Due to the
meticulous nature of our viticultural team, Someone’s Darling was
unaffected by this and the grapes achieved full ripeness. Clones planted
here are B777, B667, B115 and Abel. The vineyard was cane pruned to two
canes, with the wire being approximately half full. Harvested in late
March/early April 2011 the yield from the vineyard was two tonnes per
acre.
Vinification:
Taking advantage of Bendigo’s extreme diurnal fluctuation, the grapes
were machine harvested in the cool of evening and a destemmer harvester
was used to remove any leaves or petioles. The grapes were transported
to the winery where they were cooled for a pre-fermentation cold soak of
five days, then warmed and inoculated. Hand plunged twice daily the
wine was pressed at dryness, and then underwent malolactic fermentation
and maturation for 11 months with older oak to retain the pure intensity of
the fruit. The wine was filtered and bottled in January 2012.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Ruby red with purple edges.
Aroma: Intense dark fruit with perfumed violet notes and a hint of oak and
herbs.
Palate: Bright red fruits with a savoury mushroom layer followed by sweet
strawberry notes. With a hint of oak and balanced drying tannins, the wine
lingers with brooding complexity.
