Cherrier Sancerre "Les Chailloux" 2013 $21.99
"This single-vineyard wine is grown on old vines in a mixture of the three main types of soil: silex, gravel and chalky clay. Yields are kept low, and the wine never sees wood. That lends freshness. Stephen Vincent Pinot Noir is a dark ruby color. The wine offers notes of blackberry with hints of clove and cinnamon. Great forward fruit and soft tannins make this beautifully balanced wine very accessible.  Sourced from the Lakeville and Carneros areas of the Sonoma County growing region.  14 months in 50% American and 50% French oak.

Hailed by Stephen Tanzer as "among the most consistent producers in the Southern Rhone” Gilles and Thierry Faravel of Domaine la Bouissiere are bonified stars of Gigondas.  The special cuvee Les Amis "for friends" made from estate grown Merlot, Syrah and Caladoc has become something of a cult wine,  combining irresistibly accessible plum and blackberry fruit, powerful structure and  incredible value in one limited edition bottle.  No wonder it goes so fast year after year.

Joseph Swan Zinfandel Stellwegen Vineyard, Sonoma $34.99

Boysenberries, hint of eucalyptus, a bit of white pepper. In the mouth it is all about rich but bright fruit with good acidity balancing a good dose of alcohol. An unabashed big zin, but not at all over-ripe. A fine finish to a long run with this vineyard. 395 cases bottled.
