The Wines!!

The Kaltern estate sits in one of the most beautiful corners of the Dolomites, overlooking Caldaro Lake, in the Alto Adige region of Italy. Alto Adige is a unique pocket within Italy, close to the border with Germany, and the German influence is strong in the customs, language, food, and wine style. There are 400 tiny growers who are the members of this winery and some of the parcels of land are as small as 1/4 acre. The patchwork of vineyards form a design that is breathtaking.

Kaltern Pinot Grigio $$14.99

The Pinot Grigio is a full-bodied white wine with a straw-yellow hue, a floral nose, and pleasantly smooth character. With a little aging, undertones of nuts and honey develop. This wine pairs perfectly with mushroom dishes, fish and seafood. We also recommend it as an aperitif.

Kaltern K Bianco $12.99

Kaltern K Rosso $12.99

Two easy to drink wines made from the younger vines that have achieved sufficient maturity to produce grapes with enough intensity of flavor to merit the varietal labeling that signifies the very best produced at the vineyard.

Kaltern Pinot Nero $15.99

The heart and soul behind this wine is Helmuth Zozin, one of the most highly regarded winemakers in Italy.  Helmuth crafts this Pinot Noir so he can “taste the origin of the wine, and the balance of the fruit and structure—that is what I want to taste in my glass.”  Helmuth Zozin, winemaker
Enjoy this with poultry, beef, fish, ham, lamb and pork. It plays well with creamy sauces, and spicy seasonings.

Bricco del Conte Barbera $15.99

Made from vines that in some cases date back to the 15th Century, the Barberas of Montferrato are very intense in aroma of fresh red and blackberries with notes of black cherries in wines made of more ripe grapes. The use of toasted (seared over a fire) oak barrels, which provides for increased complexity and aging potential provides hints of vanilla in a lush deeply flavored wine with good balance and length.
