The Wines!!

Vina Cartin Albarino $15.99

Viña Cartin was founded by Ramiro Martinez Señorans in 1980 making it one of the older wineries in Rias Baixas. It is located in the Val do Salnés zone which being right on the Atlantic is cool and damp giving wines with vibrant acidity. This wine has plenty of sea salty minerality, a firm phenolic grip, good viscosity, and flavors of blood orange, lemon, tangerine intermixed with flowers, sweet spice, and guava. This is a great price especially as many Albarinos have passed the $20 mark.

Genio Monastrell Roble, Jumilla  $15.99

Andres Bastida knows the Jumilla appellation better than anyone as his career in the concentrated must industry dictated him to travel the region for 40 years buying grapes for his company. A few years ago he started to develop his dream which is to produce the best wines in the Jumilla region. Genio Español is the result of this dream. Low yield, non-irrigated vineyards provide the fruit to produce these amazing wines made from the Monastrell grape variety.

Dos Minas Malbec $14.99

The dos minas (“two chicks” in Argentine slang) of the name are Lucía Romero, who runs Bodega El Porvenir de los Andes in Cafayate, Argentina, and Heather Willens, who came to Buenos Aires via California and has experience working with small wineries in Argentina. Both are champions of wines from the mystical desert landscapes of Cafayate, and both believe that Torrontés is a wonderfully aromatic, food-friendly wine that is among the best of what Argentina has to offer to the world. So they decided to come together to create this small project to showcase the rugged, high altitude Malbec and the elegant, balanced Torrontés that the best producers in Cafayate are capable of making.

Only 1000 cases are made of the Malbec. The vines for the Malbec are an average of 10 years old.

La Gerena Crianza, Rioja $16.99

Rodrigo Fernandez Gomez is a native of Labastida in the Rioja Alavesa region. Here it is where Tempranillo is planted on limestones soils on the foothill of the Sierra Cantabria Mountains. The wines from Labastida have elegance, structure and finesse. Rodrigo selected two of the best vineyards for the two wines that he produces. Las Torcas vineyard located in the south of Labastida with an average vine age of 40 years makes La Greña Crianza. La Rueda vineyard located between Labastida and San Vicente de la Sonsierra provides the fruit for La Greña Joven. These wines combine power and elegance.
