The Wines!!

Adami Prosecco, Bosco di Gica $18.99

Bosco di Gica was the name of an ancient forest in Colbertaldo di Vidor. The wine shows youthful aromas of fruit and blossoms, and a delicate, dry palate. It is wonderful with lighter dishes featuring vegetables or fish, but it makes a superb aperitif as well.

Di Lenardo Friulano "TOH" $12.99

The EU says we're not supposed to call this Tocai Friulano anymore, but that's what it is. You'll find terrific aromas and flavors of stone fruits, honeydew melon and citrus with complex accents of almond paste, cardamom and lychee fruits. Nicely rich and full in the mouth, there's fine acidity on the back with lingering notes of tropical fruit, spice, and lemon peel on the finish. A terrific wine with fish and poultry (especially with fennel) or to just sip when you're looking for something different.

Orsolani "La Rustia" Erbaluce di Caluso $17.99

"Four keywords: seriousness, respect, work and territory." This year at Vinitaly I tasted with Gian Luigi Orsolani whose wine I had tasted before, and I have always liked the quirky Erbaluce grape; however I never had tasted the Orsolani Erbaluce di Caluso "La Rustia" and that's when those four words made sense. Gian Luigi is a soft spoken, gentle man who's so secure that he's done all the best he can that if you don't like his wine then you just don't understand Erbaluce and he would really like to help you learn. When I started tasting his wines we started with the less concentrated wines which are just wonderfully refreshing, snappy, and spicy and just a pleasure to drink. When we got to the La Rustia I was taken aback by the seriousness of the nose, a true step up from the regular and took a glance at the brochure Gian Luigi had given us, and a brief note next to a photo of the La Rustia bottles said "The unique personality of this wine comes from the strict grape selection and maniacal care for details." It was clear in tasting this wine that they had followed that brief description to the letter. ~ Greg St.Clair K&L's Italian Buyer

Vietti Dolcetto Tre Vigne $22.99

Purple red color with a light blue hue, the Dolcetto has aromas of black cherry, raspberry and hint of blueberries and minerals. An unoaked wine, this medium bodied red has soft tannins, moderate acidity and good balance.

Food Pairings: Grilled vegetables and casual dishes such as pizza, deli sandwiches and light pasta dishes.

La Historia di Italia, Guicciardini $34.99

Francesco Guicciardini, politician, diplomat and statesman from Florence, in his last years (1537-1540) retired in Arcetri and Poppiano where he wrote part of his masterpiece “Historia d’Italia”, the first historical work analyzing the Italian events in the wider frame of the great European policy. This wine, produced in Poppiano, the land he owned, is meant as a tribute to our eminent Ancestor, the father of modern historiography. 100% Merlot.  Fermentation in stainless steel, then aging in French barriques for at least 12 months.
