The Wines!!

Soletta Sardo Vermentino 2010 DOC
Grape: Vermentino
Area: Sardinia, Italy
Tasting Notes: Fresh, lively, young wine with flowery and fruity notes. Pairs well with aperitifs, or first courses such as fish, shellfish, and fresh cheeses.

Antonio Sanguineti Chianti 2012 DOCG
Grapes: Sangivese, Caniolo, Ciliegiolo, Colorino
Area:  Chianti, Tuscany, Italy
Tasting Notes: From our favorite “Maestro,” Antonio Sanguineti, comes this wonderfully delicious Chianti, made in a friendly, approachable style that is rich and powerful, yet great with food. Antonio lived as a boy in Chianti, near Siena, and despite his famous prowess with Brunello and SuperTuscan wines, has always considered Chianti the wine closest to his heart. Here, he partners with his close friend, Luca Pattaro of Il Ciliegio in Sicilia, to make a great everyday wine that is perfect with all Italian foods.

Nifo Sarrapochiello D’Erasmo Aglianico del Taburno Reserva 2010 DOC
Grape: Aglianico
Area: Taburno, Campania, Italy
Tasting Notes: Twelve hectares of this small family winery lie at the base of the Pentime Mountain with an ancient Roman road leading to the town of Benevento, used in those times to supply Rome with grapes and wines. Their third generation winemaker, Lorenzo, practices organic farming and limits production to produce high quality wines. This wine has aromas of blackberries with softness on the palate. D’Erasmo is a wine that pairs well with all types of roasted and grilled meats, and strong seasoned cheeses.

Poderi Elia Barbera d’Alba 2009 DOC
Grape: Barbera d’Alba
Area: Piedmont, Italy
Tasting Notes: From the village of Neive, comes Poderi Elia’s classically styled, old-vine Barbera d’Alba. The freshly pressed cranberries on the nose are alluring, and accentuated by lush, but bright pomegranate and fresh flowers. As always with the wines of Federico Stella, the tannins are very softly integrated, always granular and unimposing. Pair with wild boar ragu, truffle cheese, and light meats.

Gaudio Bricco Mondalino: Malvasia di Casaorza “Dolce Stil Novo” DOC
Grape: Malvasia di Casaorza
Area: Monferrato, Piedmont, Italy
Tasting Notes: Light ruby red with cherry reflections. The nose is aromatic, floral, and reminiscent of fresh rose petals. Fizzy and fragrant, with fruit flavors and a sweetness that cleanses rather than cloys on the palate. Enjoy as an aperitif or with a berry dessert.
