The Wines!!

Steininger Grüner Veltliner Kamptal DAC 2014      $16.99

This is an excellent example of a typical Austrian Grüner Veltliner. A dry and fresh white wine with influences of green apples, grapefruit and lemon showing off trademarks of flinty mineral, citrus and tropical fruit. The spice of white pepper and ripe acidity underlines all this.  A perfect every day white wine.

Steininger Grüner Veltliner Kittsmansberg 2013 $27.99

This is an excellent example of a typical Austrian Grüner Veltliner. A dry and fresh white wine with influences of green apples, grapefruit and lemon showing off trademarks of flinty mineral, citrus and tropical fruit. The spice of white pepper and ripe acidity underlines all this.  A perfect every day white wine.

Steininger Grüner Veltliner Sekt  2013 $24.99

Perfectly balanced fruit with mouth filling bubbles, nutty citrus fruit, rich mid-palate and a long fresh finish. Not as toasty/yeasty as French Champagne but this wine has the complexity and balance of fine Champagne.

Vinification: Traditional bottle fermentation.

Leo Hillinger Leithaberg Pinot Blanc 2013 $29.99

“Medium yellow green. Inviting yellow fruit on Golden Delicious apple, pear fine touch, some melon and honey, attractive bouquet. Juicy, good complexity, firm texture, white fruit nuances, fresh remains structured.  Great Food wine, Burgundian appearance with aging potential.”

  Wine Enthusiast  93pts

Leithaberg stands for terroir – produced from 40-year old vines and this wine reflects all that! Straw yellow in color, it shows the mineral content and salinity of the lime and slate soil. Aromas of peach, nuts and smoke in the nose.  Dense on the palate merging in to a long elegant finish. A wine that grabs your attention through its elegant yet distinctive minerality and pleasantly long on the palate.

Anton Bauer Zweigelt 2012    $14.99

This is a traditional Austrian grape variety. A very elegant wine, harmonious, filled with ripe black cherry and subtle mocha notes. The palate features ripe deep fruit with a gentle smooth medium-bodied mouth feel. The finish is long and has slightly spicy peppery nuances. Austrian reds feature amazingly pure fruit flavors.

Anton Bauer Pinot Noir Reserve 2013  $39.99

(Wine Enthusiast 96pts for the 2012 vintage)

A great Pinot Noir with intense notes of herbs and puréed dark berries on the nose. The wine has a typical Burgundy structure with lively soft tannins, a juicy ripeness and an elegant, long finish. This wine will age very well – great to drink now, but with a long future ahead.

Leo Hillinger Blaufränkisch Leithaberg DAC 2011 $34.99

Leithaberg is the newest DAC in Austria and this wine has a dark Rubin red and a black core. Ripe cherry, blackberry, graphite, licorice and spicy notes. Fresh cherry-fruits on the plate, tight structure, but soft. A Wine with elegant tannin, good acidity, dark berries and good spice on the long smooth finish. This wine matches more than perfectly to grilled steaks, lamb and venison.
