The Wine!!

Thibault-Jansson Blanc de Chardonnay $30.99

Claude Thibaut and Manuel Janisson bring to this sparkling wine generations of tradition from the Champagne Region of France. They have captured the flavors and essence of the Virginia Terroir. The Cuvee, made of 100% Chardonnay from the Monticello Appellation, has vibrant aromas of pear and ripe apples; the taste is perfectly balanced, crisp and refreshing.

Guy Allion Perron Sauvignon Blanc $13.99

The wine is pale yellow with green highlightsand a soft perfect brilliance and good intensity.
The nose is very pleasant with aromas of green apples, citrus and white flowers (black currant bud).
After aeration, the flavors are always on the lighter side.

Palate: supple wine now relayed by some
vivacity. Good balance, material, retro-olfaction on
Citrus and grassy end.

Xavier Cotes du Rhone $17.99

The 2012 Côtes du Rhône is another beauty by this team. Licorice, roasted herbs, pepper and plenty of sweet fruit come together in this medium to full-bodied, layered, and textured effort. Made from 60% Grenache, and Mourvedre and Syrah that saw mostly concrete tank, it's a smoking Côtes du Rhône (and a fabulous value) to drink over the coming 3-4 years. Score - 90. Chateau de Lastours Corbiers $12.99

PRESENTATION

This wine’s strong colour and powerful nose is the perfect combination of woody notes and Mediterranean fragrances (olives, dark berries, spices). Its fine tannins and full character make it a very racy wine.

GRAPE VARIETIES

Carignan, Syrah, Grenache. From the oldest vines on this estate, which are between 30 and 40 years old.

WINE-MAKING PROCESS

The grapes are harvested when they are fully mature. 75% of the “Réserve” is aged in French oak casks for a year and the other 25% in stainless steel vats.
The wine is then matured in the bottle for a year before going to market.

ABILITY TO AGE

Although this wine can be kept for up to ten years, you will appreciate its fine tannins if you open it straight away.

MARRYING THE WINE WITH A DISH

This wine prefers dishes with plenty of character: beef marinated in wine, duck magret, steak with pepper sauce, blue cheeses.

Chateau Lestrille Bordeaux Supérieur $16.99

Lestrille wines are fruity, balanced, round and snake charmers.
Raised in vats for one year, they are intended to be bus youth. They are vinified traditionally with the greatest care, in respect of the grape, its aromas and personality.
