Anton Bauer, born in 1971, represents the 4th generation to manage the now 29-hectare winery. After his graduation from the School of Wine and Fruit Growing in Krems, Lower Austria, and a training in Burgundy he worked for more than four years as an oenologist with a renowned Lower Austrian winery. Since 1992, when he took over the winery from his parents, at this time 3,2-hectare, he has been uncompromisingly pursuing his ideas of quality, paying great attention to underlining the typically regional features and the terroir character of the wines that make them incomparable and unique. This philosophy turned out to be a success, and his wines are continuously in great demand. The typically Austrian wines, topped with a certain international touch, stand their ground even in the most competitive world markets: 70% of the annual production is exported, with the most important customers being based in the United States, Great Britain, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands and in Belgium.

Vintner of the Year 2015

Vintner of the Year 2015. And there’s one more piece of news: For his work, Anton Bauer was given the "Winemaker of the Year" award by the “Wirtshausführer Österreich“ (Austrian Restaurant Guide) on September 3, 2014. "Toni Bauer has built his winery virtually from scratch. He creates outstanding wines from completely opposing worlds, and delivers top quality in both white and red wines year after year. Hats off!"

The Wines!!

Roter Veltliner 2013  $16.99

Medium green-yellow. Inviting notes of pineapple and carambola laced with blossom honey comprise a subtle and multifaceted bouquet. Elegantly concentrated with pleasant fruit sweetness balanced by vibrant acidity. Pineapple, apricot and minerals.

Rosenberg Grüner Veltliner WineEnthusiast 92pts. $17.99

Rosenberg is one of the best-known Grüner Veltliner vineyards in Austria. Very aromatic, full of round fruit and balanced with crisp acidity. The distinct soil lends a pleasant mineral and white pepper note typical of this varietal. Pairs well with a wide range of foods, including Asian cuisine and fish with fresh herbs. Excellent value and quality!

Zweigelt 2012 $14.99

This is a traditional Austrian grape variety. A very elegant wine, harmonious, filled with ripe black cherry and subtle mocha notes. The palate features ripe deep fruit with a gentle smooth medium-bodied mouth feel. The finish is long and has slightly spicy peppery nuances. Austrian reds feature amazingly pure fruit flavors– have this Zweigelt with your next barbeque or at your next party!

Wagram Reserve 2012   WineEnthusiast 92pts. $29.99

The best barrels of Anton Bauer’s wines are blended every year to make this full-bodied velvety smooth wine exuding hints of black pepper, rich red berries and spices. It shows the terroir beautifully, a simply amazing effort for an Austrian red.

Blaufränkisch Artist Series 2012   $34.99

Dark ruby with nearly opaque core, violet highlights and a thin, transparent rim. Dark berry fruit, black berry jam and dark minerals. A juicy, sweetly extracted core is elegantly wrapped in a harmonious veil of fine- grained tannin. The long finish has textures of dark fruit and notes of gianduja. Potential for further development and ageing.
