"This lush and spicy red offers concentrated flavors of dark cherry, plum and dried raspberry that are creamy and rich-tasting. Milk chocolate and loads of Asian spice details fill in on the finish, revealing some savory touches. Drink now through 2019.

Our Thoughts.......

Loaded with fruit, this wine has notes of plums and blackberries, along with intense and distinctive notes of caramel, vanilla and chocolate. It drinks very softly, but has a lengthy finish and good balance. Great as a stand alone glass, even better with Grilled meats and roasted, seasoned vegetables!

The Winemaker's Thoughts.......

"A deep red colored wine, Merlot comes from the Maipo Valley. It has notes of chocolate and vanilla, along with berries and roasted coffee. In the mouth it is a silky wine with great structure; its tannins appear round and mature. It is a perfect companion for meat, stews, pastas and cheeses.

Color: Deep violet-ruby red.

Palate: Soft with mature tannins, with good structure and very balanced.
Food: Pairing It is ideal to go with white and red meat, pastas, game birds and cheeses."

The History of Vina Santa Ema

In 1917 Pedro Pavone Voglino left his homeland (Piedmont, Italy), to set out on a long journey to the New World. It was his pioneer instinct that brought him to Chile and allowed him to discover the richness of the Maipo Valley. Delighted with the landscape of the area, and the special characteristics for the production of wines, he decided to settle down.

In 1931 he purchased the lands that would become what is now Santa Ema Winery and thus, began to produce grapes for wine-making, which, due to their quality would be sold to renowned Chilean wineries.

In 1956 we began producing and marketing bottled wines, which have been recognized by the industry and consumers to date.  Always elaborating wines in the Maipo region and searching for the best Terroir in the area, from the Mountain Range to the Pacific Ocean.

In 1986 we exported our first wines, Brazil being the first foreign market for the winery. Today, Santa Ema wines are exported to the main countries of The Americas, Europe and Asia."

In 2003 they opened our modern vinification plant, “El Peral” Winery, located in the heart of Isla de Maipo and which boasts the best technology available for the production of quality wines. Pioneers in the Maipo Valley, farming the best terroirs of the three most representative areas of this Chilean valley, thus, producing the best and most awarded wines from mountain to sea. They also have a great and modern wine cellar at Central Maipo, El Peral, where their wines are fermented, laid down and bottled. Their wines are present in countries of the main continents of the world delighting diners, sybarites and good wines lovers.
