"SUENO"

TEMPRANILLO

  Ribera del Jucar, Spain

"Sueno" or Como sueno means dream like.......we totally agree!

91 Points! Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate

" It offers a very intense bouquet of dark berries, mulberry and dark plum, dried pressed flowers developing with time. The palate is very well-balanced, placing a gentle but insistent grip on the palate. The oak is very well-integrated and it lends the dark chocolate-tinged finish a seamless quality and weight without impinging upon the terroir character. It is quite a “deep” Tempranillo that will repay one or two years in bottle. Drink 2014-2019."

Our Thoughts...............

The aroma drips with charred fruit, and smoky cinnamon. with touch of round earthiness.

The palate is licorice, plum, fireplace embers, and blueberry. It’s richness and thick round tannins ebb in the mid palate then rise in the finish of dark fruit, burnt cedar and mineral.

About Ribera del Júcar DOC..........

Ribera del Júcar, like Manchuela, was a part of the larger La Mancha DO within Castilla- La Mancha. It was accorded the DO (Denominación de Origen) status in 2003 making it one of the youngest designated appelations in Spain. The region derives its name from the Júcar river that hugs its eastern border. It is completely surrounded by the two larger DO's as mentioned earlier.

The climate in this region is that of a transitional nature, between the continental effects of the central plateau to the west and Mediterranean influences from the east. The Júcar river also plays a moderating role, making the overall conditions much milder in this area. It is this feature that led to the creation of this DO outside La Mancha which is extremely hot and arid. This cooler climate assists in producing lighter yields of Cencibel (Tempranillo), which is the main grape variety here.

To the left here I am standing last May in a typical La Mancha Vineyard. It produces quality wines with plenty of fruit character and elegance. Other prominent red grapes that form a part of the regional blend include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Bobal. Moscatel and Sauvignon Blanc are the main whites.
