The Wines!!

Kellerei Kaltern Caldaro Pinot Grigio,  Alto Adige (2014) $14.99

At truly unique pinot grigio, exuding a straw-yellow hue, nose of white flowers, ripe pear, hazelnut, honeydew melon, and a hint of vanilla. Surprisingly full-bodied with a juicy, voluptuous character and ripe notes of fruit on the finish. Kellerei Kaltern-Caldaro came into being in 1992, or rather in 1906 and 1908. Today’s operation was formed by the 1992 merger of two long-established local cellars, the Bauernkellerei (Farmer’s Cellar) and the Jubilaumskellerei (Jubilee Cellar).

Borgo San Daniele Friulano, Friuli Isonzo (2014) $29.99

Brother and sister team, Mauro and Alessandra Mauri, express their shared winemaking philosophy through a strictly limited range of low-production wines and a handful of key wine-making concepts.  The high standards at Borgo San Daniele are based on irrevocable rules of practice which begin in their 46 acres of vineyard, with organic and biodynamic farming practices. Wild flowers and hints of candied orange peel are prevalent on the nose. Ripe white stone fruits give way to moderate acidity on the palate, with a light sweet almond finish.

Cantine Volpetti Cesanese del Piglio, Lazio (2014) $12.99

A mouth-filling ruby red wine, spicy and complex with a nose of mature red berries, plum, and kitchen spices. Aged 8 months in French barriques for a soft, spicy finish. Cesanese is a native grape, considered the Roman Red due to its history of growing wild on the countryside of Rome, in Lazio

Rocche Costamagna Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata, Piemonte (2013) $18.99

Driven by a philosophy to combine modern technologies with respect for the distinctive character of each local varietal, the grapes from each vineyard are processed separately to reflect both the personality of the varietal and of the terroir. A classic Barbera which has
typical cherry aromas. It is afull bodied wine balanced by the characteric acidity of the Barbera grape. The vibrant fruit is combined with spicy notes that come from ageing for 12 months in small oak casks.

Rocche Costamagna Langhe Nebbiolo Roccardo, Piemonte (2014) $19.99

Using grapes from La Morra and Verduno. distinguished Barolo producer Alessandro Locatelli uses a traditional vinification to produce this staple.  The wine is aged for twelve months in Slavonian oak casks to create an elegant and harmonious palate balanced with polished tannins and notes of rich raspberry, blackberry and cherry.
