The Wines!!

Gruet Blanc de Noir Sparkling $17.99

Pale salmon in color, this full-bodied wine had a fine mousse and a creamy, rich texture. Complex aromas and flavors of raspberry, baked pear and cherry are complemented by a hint of toasted vanilla. The balance of fruit, minerals and crisp acidity lead to a round mouthfeel and lasting finish.

 75% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay

Sandhi Chardonnay 2013 $25.99

Our “village wine” is a blend of vineyards from the southwestern part of Sta. Rita Hills including sections from Rita’s Crown, Bentrock, and Wenzlau. The Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay is vinifed with the same level of detail as our single vineyard wines and showcases both the splendor of the Sta. Rita Hills appellation and the opulence of the 2014 vintage. The wine has aromas of meyer lemon peel with hints of raw ginger, honey, and green apple all under a cloak of crushed white rock. The texture offers a restrained fleshiness mid-palate with a focused and bright saline finish.

Sandhi Pinot Noir, Santa Rita Hills 2013 $27.99

Our ‘village’ Pinot Noir is vinified with the same level of detail as our single vineyard wines. The 2013 vintage is a blend of 6 different vineyards from the southwestern part of the Sta. Rita Hills including Bentrock, Rita’s Crown, Rinconada, and Mt. Carmel. This wine showcases the freshness, finesse, and exuberance of the appellation.

Brimming with high-toned, youthful aromatics, the 2013 Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir leads with crunchy red fruits of pomegranate, wild strawberry, and sun-warmed raspberry. The exuberantly fruited nose is undergirded with orange zest, black tea, tea rose, and faint hints of clove and spice. The bright, vivacious palate carries a taut mineral streak through to a lengthy finish lifting the red fruit notes with a whisper of anise.

Michael Pozzan Cabernet Sauvignon 2014  $20.99

The 2014 Michael Pozzan Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic example of Cabernet grown in this esteemed Sonoma County appellation. The nose is expressive with wild blackberry, subtly charred oak and dark chocolate covered cherries. The broad mouth shows finely textured tannins, with flavors of espresso and the darkest of dark chocolate mingling with spicy black fig and boysenberries. The wine is dark and complex, well framed by integrated French oak. The dense wine would benefit from some time breathe before drinking - or better yet, splash it into a decanter and enjoy it in full bloom.

Sailor's Grave Red Blend Napa Valley 2012 $29.99

for the story behind the man - click on the picture

From first glance, the 2012 Sailor's Grave hums with deep and seductive color - inky, dark purple with a subtle ruby tint. The aromas are beguiling from the first inhale - pipe smoke and black cherry, saddle leather and a subtle bass note of richly roasted coffee. In the mouth, the wine reveals its density and weight - layers on layers of juice-dripping blackberries, dark chocolate, syrupy espresso, and a gentle hint of vanilla, all entwined around a core of pure, ripe fruit. The tannins are mouth-filling and substantial - this wine will continue to age and improve for 15 years - but with a finesse that makes this wine something special even it its youth.

Showcase this crowd-pleaser next to filet mignon au poive, served with buttered mashed potatoes and pan roasted asparagus. To bring out its best side now, decant this wine before drinking, and cellar properly to see how this wine evolves over the next decade and a half.
