The History

It may sound improbable, but it was a passion for the sea and for riding the wild surf of Western Australia’s remote Margaret River region that led Jeff Burch to discover his affinity for wine and, perhaps even, his destiny. Now serving as the proud owner and CEO of Burch Family wines, Jeff Burch works alongside his wife Amy, his daughter Natalie, and his sons David and Richard to craft the finest expressions of Western Australia’s premium winegrowing zones, Margaret River and the Great Southern.

Howard Park Wines is Western Australia's largest boutique family-owned winery producing a range of handcrafted fine Australian wines. Since its inception in 1986, Howard Park’s philosophy has been to craft outstanding boutique Australian wines of great subtlety, character, balance and elegance with an uncompromising commitment to quality. In 2009, Howard Park was asked to join Australia's First Families of Wine (AFFW), a collective of twelve multi-generational family-owned wine producers. Together representing seventeen wine-growing regions across Australia and forty-eight generations of winemakers.

The Howard Park insignia celebrates the creation of the vine and its forbidden fruits as in the biblical reference of Garden of Eden. With the union of its “Tree of Life” symbol and intertwined winged dragon, signifying the essential creative balance between the experience of temptation and ultimate enlightenment.

The Wines!!

Sauvignon Blanc / Semillon Miamup $24.99

Sparkling lemon and lime hues in appearance with a poached citrus and marmalade, spiced with lemon verbena and vanilla pod aroma.  The palate is ruby grapefruit, finger lime, custard apple, gooseberry and quince with lemon curd and citrus oil adding texture and richness. Perfect alongside a Persian feta, zucchini and mint tart.

Chardonnay Miamup $24.99

Vibrant in appearance and pale lemon in colour.
An array of subtle and intricate notes of dried pear, honeysuckle, lemon /lime citrus oils, peach, minerals, nuts and caramel greet the nose. On the palate the wine is silky in texture with a lemon curd tart zest and richness. The talc-like minerality, fine acidity and guiding oak add length, definition and structure. Sublime with blue crab with a dill mayonnaise for dipping or double cream brie on water crackers.

Cabernet Sauvignon Miamup $24.99

A deep and inviting black cherry colour with floral notes of violets and fruity, doughy aromas of just baked blackberry muffins. The palate is soft, inviting, and full of wild berries, vanilla, cocoa and loads of supple, fine tannin. Savor with lamb chops, char grilled with a bay leaf and smoked paprika rub, served with chickpeas or just drink with well-aged cheddar - Australian of course!

Shiraz Flint Rock $24.99

Deep and dense garnet in appearance. Lush plums and black cherry fruit seasoned with pepper, spice, vanilla and mocha greet the nose.  On the palate the wine is dense and redolent of blackberry, plum and cherry, laced with licorice and cocoa. The mouth feel and texture of the wine is rich, velvety and supple. Try something different by matching Howard Park's Flint Rock Shiraz with a potato and chorizo omelette!

Shiraz Leston $37.99

Margaret River in style with a sweet fruit expression and open weave tannin structure that ably support this generously proportioned wine. An intense, dark crimson color with an enticing bouquet of poached plums, blueberries, cinnamon, cracked pepper, violets and mocha. The palate is abundantly rich, full of supple ripe fruit and finished with chewy fruit tannins and a dust of oak.
