The Wines!!!

Paul D Grüner Veltliner 2015

Golden straw color with delightfully perfume & bright spice aromas, ripe Grüner varietal flavors, crisp spicy fruit and a full yet dry finish.   Very clean & fresh, this is a great party wine and an awesome value! 1 liter = 33% more wine than a reg. 750ml bottle (that's 1 glass for free!)

The Washington Post  By Dave McIntyre Aug 10th, 2016 Austria, $12 (1 liter)   "This charming Grüner Veltliner ranks among the best white wine values year after year. In the fantastic 2015 vintage, it shows deliciously ripe flavors with the bracing acidity and herbaceous character typical of grüner. It has the added values of being inexpensive, sold in a 1-liter bottle and widely available."

Steininger Grüner Veltliner Loisium Kamptal DAC Reserve 2014

This wine benefits with some aeration in the glass and reveals wonderful variatal character with subtle tobacco, yellow apple, dill and flinty minerals. Full-bodied and complex, yet very harmounious and niclely matured with the refreshing acid structure fully integrated. This multi-layered wine remains long on the finish and demonstrates very good ageing potential.

The Wine Enthusiast 93 Points Austria $22 The very slightest touch of honey plays among the citrus notes on the nose. There is a touch of yellow pear but the streamlined palate is guided by a seam of lemon zest, smoke, pear and citrus keep echoing each other beautifully. Will benefit from two to three years of bottle age.

Anton Bauer Wagram Pinot Noir 2014

This Pinot Noir shows a precise balance between the fruit and acidity that makes it freshand lively. It has a typical Pinot Noir nose with strawberries, raspberries and floral notessuch as violets. On the palate the wine is well balanced, elegant and it has a long finish tasting of red berries. An all-purpose red, easy to drink and it pairs with many differentdishes from fish and vegetables to lighter meat dishes and spicy food.

The Wine Enthusiast 93 Points Austria $25   "Pure notes of red fruits reach the nose: Morello cherry and mulberry harmonize beautifully. Their purity pervades a palate that has  the lightest touch: there is something authentic, beautiful and unforced about this. There is a suggestion, too, of herb, moss or undergrowth. This unpretentious winemaking style lets this pure, glorious fruit speak for itself and brings with it a profound sense of honest depth, bountiful earth and full-fruited balance."

Steindorfer St. Laurent Reserve 2014

Very dark, almost port-like in color, with open knit red currant and black cherry fruit laced with licorice and baking spice. Full, yet elegant, with a firm backbone and a long smooth finish. A fine companion to duck, pork and cassolet or Thanksgiving!  Think $50 Oregon Pinot Noir, just a much better value !

Leo Hillinger Hill 1 2012
40% Zweigelt, 20% Syrah, 20% Blaufränkisch,  20% Merlot

Dark, explosive nose with a palate filled with dark berry fruit that is very powerful. The tannins are perfectly balanced by the thick structure. Very long finish. Aged 18 months in new Alliér and Troncai wood. This wine is great now and also has a big future ahead.
Falstaff (Top Austrian Wine magazine) 93pts                               The Wine Enthusiast 92 Points Austria $75
"Spicy white pepper pervades this rich, rounded red. Structured tannins call for meat if this is to be drunk now. These will mellow by 2016 in cellar and the ripe, crunchy red fruit will come to the fore."
