We've selected quite an eclectic array of wines for the tasting table to
ensure that there will be something to please everyone's special Valentine!
First, a pair of "lovely" wines from the La Cappuccina estate in Romeo &
Juliet's hometown of Verona:
Verona Bianco- A crisp, clean blend of the regional grape Garganega and
Sauvignon Blanc.
Verona Rosso- A smooth Merlot, blended with a bit of the Veronese grape
Raboso.
"Olinto" Chianti Classico
A classic wine for lovers of Tuscany (and who doesn't LOVE Tuscany?!). This
version is earthy and classic, blended with a bit of Merlot for a smooth,
cherry-flavored finish.
Another "pair" of lovelies, from a husband & wife winemaking team at the
Organic Meinklang Estate in Pannonia Austria:
Meinklang Pinot Noir Frizzante - A beautiful pink sparkler, made
from Pinot Noir grapes. Fresh and lively, great with
or without food.
Meinklang IceWine (Pinot Blanc) -A sweet for your sweet! An aromatic and
delicate IceWine made in the traditional style of allowing the grapes to
freeze on the vine. All conditions must be perfect to produce this wine,
and this is the first vintage in three years!
Sawtooth Riesling - A classic Riesling, with a natural, juicy yet clean
sweetness resulting from the plump, ripe grapes which are cultivated in
Idaho's Snake River Valley. I'm not going to try and make a joke about
Valentine's Day, being snake-bitten or how long the Snake River is.
I figure that's better left to your imagination - wherever it leads you!!
