Caruso e Minini Inzolia $16:The hills of Giumarella, located at 15km east of Marsala, seem to be naturally suitable to the production of extraordinary and unique white grapes. Inzolia, which is characterized by intense and elegant fragrances, is a result of an ancient equilibrium between the strong and generous soil and the vine that seems to never suffer. Aging, 4 months in stainless steel tanks and 2 months in the bottle. Clean and crystalline. Its intense bouquet expresses soft refinement and gracefulness. The taste is fruity, crispy and soft. In the mouth is persistent and intense.
Icario Rubio $21: Barrel aged for 9 months in a combination of oak casks. This unusual blend combines the grape typical to the north, Teroldego, the international varietal, Merlot and the traditional grape of Tuscany, Sangiovese. Wonderful berry fruit aromas are followed by a lush and round palate with a long and intense finish.
Aromas of blackberry and plum skin follow through to a medium body, with fine tannins and a fresh finish. Delicious already.
Dama Montepulciano D'Abruzzo $16: Ruby red colour with some dark red nuances. It’s has a good olfactory persistence tending to the liquorice flavour. It’s rich and harmonious on the palate. Aged in barriques and in bottle for 12-18 months. It’s recommended with everything, but it links perfectly with roasted and stewed meat, with salami, ham and cheese.
Caruso e Minini Cutaja Sicilia $36: The place where our vineyards are situated was in the deepest past a gravel bank of a river. This testifies the presence of the typical by the water rounded stones being called “Cuti”. Thus, the name of this wine derives from the originality of its soil which it makes both unique and special. Vineyards of Cuttaia, located in the surroundings of Mazara del Vallo at an altitude of 190 metres above sea level. Sandy and loamy soil with the presence of the round stones (cuti). The vine is trained without artificial irrigation. Careful selection of the grapes picked up by hand. Maceration and fermentation of the destemmed grapes in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature of 25°C for 15-20 days. Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Nero d’Avola and Syrah: 10 months in tonneaux of 550 litres. Final ageing in bottles for 3-6 months. The year 2006 was characterized by a hot, dry and quite windy summer. The grape harvest had to be anticipated for almost 10 days, but, nevertheless, it has had a regular course. Complex and intense. Mature red fruits like currant and prune merged perfectly with herbs and scents of cocoa. It is hot-tasty, silky and persistent.
Braida Moscato D'Asti $21: Bright straw yellow, nice foam and rich perlage. An extraordinarily fresh bouquet, and quite varied; from among the many notes one can distinguish fresh fruit, orange blossoms, rose and musk. A sweet flavor, but a graceful one, aromatic characteristics of the grape, delicious and with a long finish.
The 2008 Moscato d’Asti Vigna Senza Nome is an understated, fragrant Moscato made in a moderately sweet style. A long, clean finish rounds out this pretty wine.
