Ruby red colour with garnet hues, and the aroma is fresh, sweet and gentle, full of fruit, mostly reminiscent of cherries. The taste is light and soft, with a long, pleasantly tannic persistency. Pairs well with roasted and grilled meat, and game.

Darkly floral, the 2020 Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso La Cengia opens with a bouquet of violets and flowery undergrowth, giving way to crushed blackberries and tobacco hints. It's seamlessly silky with a cooling acidity to balance as ripe red and black fruits descend upon the senses. Citrus mingles with wild berries and spice as the 2020 finishes gently tannic and with great length. The balance here is beautiful.

The 2020 Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore La Cengia (with 20,000 bottles made) reveals medium-dark concentration with plenty of dark fruit, spice, dried cherry and plum. The wine is round and nicely textured with enough fruit intensity and spice to drive good length over what is essentially an informal and youthful red wine from northern Italy. Winemaking starts in steel, and this blend of Corvina, Rondinella and other local grapes goes into large oak casks for 12 months.
