Epitomizing the domaine, the Vieilles Vignes de Jean-Marc Brocard (Jean-Marc Brocard's Old Vines) were planted around 70 year ago. Their roots reach down over 25 meters into Kimmeridgian soil. The wines, which are more concentrated, express all the complexity and finesse of the Chardonnay grape. Nose of anise, pink grapefruit, lemon, salt, persistent and crisp. The palate is balanced, beautiful energy. Pair with mushroom pie , quiches, shellfish, fish, rabbit with mustard, dry goat cheese.

Sourced from low-yielding old vines (planted after World War II), this smoky, chalk-edged white highlights the classic mineral inflections of Chablis against luscious lemon and pear flavors of this ripe vintage. Full bodied and richly textured but anchored by a steely edge of acidity, it's ready now but should drink well through 2030 at least.

The 2020 Chablis Vieilles Vignes de Sainte Claire is clean and fresh on the nose, offering apple orchard and sliced pear aromas. The cohesive, focused palate is well balanced with a touch of sour lemon on the entry, good substance on the midpalate and gentle but insistent grip on the finish. Excellent.
