Winemaker Notes: Eric Solomon, Bixente Oçafrain, and Philippe Cambie collaborate to create Black Slate La Vilella Alta by selecting Garnacha and Carinyena grown on both licorella and clay-limestone soils. A blend of old and young-vine fruit and small additions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, La Vilella Alta is a dense and intensively flavored wine fermented in tank and aged in French oak barrels, of which 30% are new.
50% Garnacha, 30% Cariñena, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Syrah

The 2020 Black Slate La Vilella Alta was produced with a blend of 50% Garnacha, 30% Cariñena, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Syrah from their own vineyards and purchased grapes. It has an expressive nose with notes of licorice and cured meat, berries and herbs with a clear graphite twist. It's juicy and round, with soft tannins and mellow acidity. It has 15% alcohol and a pH of 3.6.
