Winemaker Notes: Around here, Cabernet Franc is something of a hometown hero. It grows beautifully in the Rattlesnake Hills, and this reserve bottling is our way of showing off. Aromas of black cherry, plum, cocoa dust and polished oak rise from the glass with a hint of dried sage tagging along. Then things get playful- cherry cordial & graphite, roasted herbs & cocoa nibs, black pepper & tobacco leaf- each taking a turn across a broad, velvety mid-palate that stretches as far as the view across the valley.19 months in 100% French oak, (32% new, 27% 1-3 use, 41% neutral) Certified Sustainably produced.
90% Cabernet Franc, 7% Malbec, and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon.

This medium-bodied Cabernet Franc, which includes small amounts of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, spent 19 months in French oak, only 32% of which was new. The remaining barrels were a combination of used and neutral. There is a distinctly savory quality to the wine's aromas, with smoked cherries and lavender melding with the scent of grilled portobello mushrooms. Flavors of tart red cherries and cola are accented by a variety of oak spices, including cinnamon and nutmeg. — Michael Alberty
