Just a lick of reductive flint still plays on the citrusy nose. The palate reveals a riper streak of tangerine and Mandarin, as well as lovely, pithy, zesty concentration. Yet there is something light-footed and juicy about this. A fitting composition that unites ease and stoniness.

The 2019 Ried Steinertal Riesling Smaragd is coolish, fresh and really flinty on the stony nose. Lush and round on the palate, this is a gorgeously complex and silky textured, highly elegant and filigreed wine with a long and persistently salty finish. A fabulous Riesling of great finesse and terroir expression but also calmness. Highly recommended. 13% alcohol. Tasted at the domain in June 2021.
