Right Proper Brewing Senate Märzen

Pouring a warm amber‑copper hue with a gentle off‑white head, Senate Märzen greets you with inviting aromas of toasted bread crust, caramelized malts, and a subtle whisper of floral hop character. On the palate, it delivers a smooth medium body anchored by rich bready‑malt flavour: think biscuit, light toffee, and nutty undertones. The ebb of sweetness is gracefully balanced by a clean, restrained bitterness derived from Bavarian and Bohemian hops, lending a crisp finish that keeps it lively. At ~6 % ABV, it combines malt‑forward depth with an easy drinkability. Crafted in collaboration between Right Proper, the Heurich House Museum and Lost Lagers, this Märzen revives a classic DC‑era “Maerzen” recipe from 1933, offering a modern twist on a historic style.
