The 2023 Scout’s Honor Proprietary Red is rich, full-bodied and deeply concentrated, opening with generous aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry and dark plum layered with sweet currant, cracked pepper and warm spice. The palate is lush and juicy, with jammy black fruit at its core complemented by touches of vanilla, toasted oak and savory spice. Old-vine Zinfandel provides the ripe, generous fruit, while Charbono and Petite Sirah add depth, structure and firm yet polished tannins, with Syrah contributing additional dark fruit and peppery character. Aging in 65% new American oak brings added richness and warmth to the finish. Bold and powerful yet remarkably approachable, this is a mouthfilling California red with excellent balance, lingering spice and plenty of ripe fruit through the long, satisfying finish.
