Golden yellow in colour with greenish hues, Solosole opens with notes of stone fruits such as peach and apricot, followed by sulphurous and flint-like notes. It has a medium body, with generous fruit character. The finish is long, dry and zesty, especially when young. It evolves interestingly in the glass, an indication of its excellent ageing capacity. Pairs well with appetizers, raw fish and, thanks to its freshness and aromatic character, fried seafood, fish stews and vegetable dishes.

The folks at Poggio al Tesoro really have nabbed a successful approach when it comes to the versatile Vermentino grape. The 2021 Bolgheri Vermentino Solosole opens to a luminous appearance and golden highlights. The bouquet produces nectarine, passion fruit, pomelo and a glossy or waxy element that adds a bit of the proverbial shine. It only sees stainless steel, and the grapes come from a vineyard planted just above the level of the sea. An ample 100,000 bottles were made and each one offers terrific value.

The 2021 Vermentino Solosole is laced with hints of pear, spice, white flowers and mint. Stylistically, the 2021 offers lovely brightness and a touch less oiliness than in the past. There's plenty of depth buffered by bright saline notes that extend the finish.

This savory white starts off with inviting aromas of gooseberry, elderflower and citrus. Full and rounded, the polished palate features juicy white grapefruit, ripe apricot and a hint of saline before closing on bitter almond.
