Tenuta Rocca Barolo 2019

The organic 2019 Barolo (with 15,000 bottles produced) offers medium-lean concentration with a bouquet that wavers between the fruity and the savory. There are jumps between dried cherry and cinnamon, plum and spice. These give the wine a sense of fluid movement and energy, and you'll want to wait a few more years to allow this pretty wine to find its comfortable baseline.

Aromas of black cherry, sweet and savory spices and dried herbs lift from the glass as the wine opens. The firm, solid palate has heft, showing the darker fruit notes in league with oak spices and bold tannins that need time. Drink 2028–2045. — Jeff Porter

Walnuts, sandalwood, cloves, dried cherries and tobacco on the nose. It’s chewy and firm with compact tannins and a full body. Dried spices on a firm finish. Try in 2026.

This red delivers a mix of cherry, plum, eucalyptus and resin flavors, with a toasty oak sheen. Tannic and on the dry side, with a lingering finish of macerated fruit and sweet spices. Best from 2027 through 2040. 1,250 cases made, 840 cases imported.
