Purlieu Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Winemaker Notes: Abundant natural charisma and impeccable balance make the Purlieu 2019 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon an irresistible homage to the region. The dark, rich nose brings juicy blueberry, blackberry and purple fruit aromas from the glass. The palate opens into a full-bodied mouthful of ripe boysenberry and blue and red fruits, with warm layers of espresso and baking spice adding depth and dimension. Soft, well-knit tannins structure the wine and carry the fruit into a long finish of berries and golden caramel.

Winemaker Notes: Purlieu means “the edge of the forest” or “an outlying area.” Directly, it is a reference to our home base in the new Coombsville AVA, at the edge of the forest and the entire Napa Valley. Symbolically, “purlieu” refers to our approach to winemaking, to exploring the outskirts and navigating the boundaries of what one may expect of a Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. For us, the key to successfully walking that edge lies in maintaining balance: between innovation and tradition, confidence and restraint, depth and refreshment.
