It is diffcult to think of a finer vintage of the ‘29 Estate’ Cabernet Sauvignon than the 2021. No blenders were used this vintage and this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon wine opens with an explosive aromatic profile of violets, black cassis, currants and blueberries. On the palate, juicy boysenberries and plums compliment a structure of richness and concentration while firm tannin support an ideal acid structure and promise ageability. From the beginning to the end, this Cabernet is polished, round and supple. The purest expression of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that they’ve produced to date. This wine should age indefnitely for several decades.

All varietal, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon 29 Estate was aged 20 months in 83% new French oak. It reminds me of a great vintage of Pichon Baron in Bordeaux and has a stunning nose of blackcurrants, smoke tobacco, graphite, and lead pencil shavings. With full-bodied richness and incredible density and extract on the mid-palate, this structured, flawlessly balanced, gorgeous 2021 will benefit from 3-5 years of bottle age and cruise for two decades in cold cellars.

To be released in September 2024, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon 29 Estate is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 20 months in 83% new French oak. Black cherries and cassis set the stage, underscored by hints of dark loam and dry cedary notes. It's medium to full-bodied, ripe and plush, with a silky texture on the mid-palate and a bevy of fine-grained tannins on the lingering finish. Hold it another few years, then drink it over the next 15 years or so.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon 29 Estate is another dense, full-throttle wine from Vineyard 29. Closed and massively tannic, the Estate is going to need a few years to settle down. Today, bright acids and huge tannins dominate. This clearly needs time.
